I'm Samira Joy, an editor, photographer, and filmmaker. My passion lies in reportage, storytelling, communication, and visual journalism.

I grew up in an artistic commune at Schloss Freiberg, Styria, visited by writers, musicians, and thinkers. This early exposure to a bohemian lifestyle, art, and "out-of-the-box" thinking shaped my perspective. I started my own journalistic career at the age of 14 as a writer and photographer.

Over the years, I have achieved the following milestones (in no particular order):

• Completed training as an editor, including a Volo

• Earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & PR

• Spent two years studying management and sports in Arizona

• Edited around 20 bachelor’s and master’s theses

• Took responsibility for developing a men’s magazine as a lead writer (freelance)

• Directed music videos in Graz and Marseille

• Lived in Marseille for a year

• Conducted countless interviews and photo shoots

In 2021, I moved to Berlin. I spent three years in the music editorial teams at ROLLING STONE and MUSIKEXPRESS, where I interviewed over 200 international artists, helped build the video editorial team, and contributed to the development of new formats and social media design.

After nearly 15 years in the media industry, I have expanded my focus to the business world. At BUSINESS INSIDER, I report as a career editor on executives, board members, and high performers. I tell the stories of those shaping the job market.

My additional skills include content creation, social media strategy and performance, fostering approachability and tolerance in interactions with people of all ages and backgrounds, moderation (most recently at the Social Diversity Award), music (guitar, vocals, piano), travel management, and extensive experience with international cultures (USA, Iceland, France, UK).
